QR Codes… to be or not to be… that is the question.
As misunderstood by Fortune 500 marketing departments as the hashtag, these little black & white squares of intrigue, never really gained popularity amongst the general public.
Even way-back-when during their heyday, circa 2011/12, folks on the high street never really knew what they were for.
However, I am wondering if QR codes will make a comeback in 2021.
After spending the past few months between UK, Mexico, Peru & USA (ironically, we’ve been forced to travel due to Covid) I’ve seen an increased use of QR code placements for marketing across many different verticals and industries.
The fact most smartphone cameras can now read QR codes without the need for a code reader app, it’s very possible we’ll see increase traction.
The trouble is the majority of people do not know how to effectively use QR codes – so there’s an education requirement for the industry as a whole.
I think an increase in QR usage is likely.
8 ways in which QR codes can be used:
✅ Direct link to secret promotions & offers
✅ Emergency contact information
✅ High street treasure hunts
✅ Luggage ID tags
✅ ID tags for pets
✅ Print & digital cross-platform promotions
✅ interactive maps at large tradeshows, parks
✅ Museum & art galleries
There really are a lot of creative ways to use QR codes… so I’m curious to know what you think.
Do you, would you, or how would you use QR codes? Let me know!
